Meet past interns
FEB 2011 - AUG 2011
Being an intern in the Normes Department has been extremely enriching. I have worked on Conventions 100 and 111 (equal remuneration and discrimination), writing up comments to monitor States’ compliance in national legislation with the principles of the conventions. I also participated in the background research for the next General Survey of Fundamental Conventions. I definitely enjoyed my internship here at the ILO. Being an active member on the Intern Board definitely made my experience even more fulfilling. Outside of the ILO, I have been busy travelling, hiking, and enjoying the Lac Léman and surroundings!

Federico Curci | International Institute of Labour Studies
FEB 2011 - JUL 2011
FEB 2011 - JUL 2011
After graduating in economics I joined the ILO in February 2011. I am doing my internship in the International Institute for Labour Studies, a research-oriented department of the ILO. I am research assistant in two projects, one in which we want to assess the impact of financial regulation on labour market dynamics and the other in which we are trying to identify the determinants of the decline of the wage share in OECD countries. I am enjoying this experience because I can see the application of my studies to current labour market problems and work in a very international and stimulating environment.

Piotr Myszkorowski | Employment Sector, Analysis Department (Emp/Analysis)
JAN 2011 - JUL 2011
JAN 2011 - JUL 2011
My job at the ILO consists in providing assistance in econometrics and statistics to Nooman Majid - author of numerous reports, papers and books. Spreadsheets covered in numbers, STATA outputs and crazy econometric models are the essential components of a good day of work. I was born in Morocco but with the polish citizenship during a period where toilet paper was a luxury good in Poland. Now I have been living in Lausanne for almost 20 years and I recently graduated from the Master of Science in Economics in HEC Lausanne. Beside being co-president of the Intern board and promoting social activities in Lausanne I spend my time playing tennis, reading and sometimes writing.

Corina Shika Kwami | Partnerships & Development Cooperation (PARDEV)
JAN 2011 - JUL 2011
JAN 2011 - JUL 2011
With a background in human geography and Muslim-Christian Understanding, I made the switch from Health & Human Rights at the WHO to another interdisciplinary department at the ILO. My new home for six months, PARDEV, is comprised of two sections: Cooperation and Development (CODEV) and External Relations (EXREL). I work in the latter with the representative from the Holy See on Interreligious Dialogue and the Decent Work Agenda. Through this approach to labour and work, our department engages with parliaments, NGOs and faith-based groups on labour issues. Our intent is to identify how to engage in dialogue with different religious traditions regarding ILO principles such as decent work, social protection, etc. The ILO as a tripartite agency truly comes to life in this department as relationships with other UN agencies, governments and employers/employees are addressed. As a whole, PARDEV facilitates resource mobilization and manages ILO's partnerships with other UN agencies and governments.

Gi Eun Kim | International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC)
FEB 2011 - JUN 2011
FEB 2011 - JUN 2011
I was born in Busan, Republic of Korea and previously lived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I am a senior undergraduate at Smith College, MA U.S.A. I will earn a B.A. in Economics and a Five College Certificate in International Relations in May 2011. At the ILO, I am fortunate to work with one of IPEC’s major projects, TACKLE. The TACKLE project intends to eliminate child labour through education in 11 countries across Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. With financial support from the European Community, the project works to help reduce poverty by providing access to basic education and skills training for disadvantaged children and youth. I support the Finance and Administrative Assistant in establishing and organizing the project’s information systems and assist the reconciliation of TACKLE’s financial accounts against general ledger type reports generated by the ILO’s Integrated Resource Information System.
